Kauai Spring Break Clinic
Sunday, March 19 – Wednesday, March 22 2023
$750 usd (*We supply canoe)
$650 usd (*Supply your own canoe)
*Paddlers must supply their own leash, paddles, PFDs, and fill in the online waiver form.
The Spring Break clinics are scheduled every year in March and designed to improve your confidence and ability in an OC1. Multiple instructors will be on hand so this clinic is suitable for all range of paddling ability. We will talk about how Hawaiians train, help you with your stroke, and get you out doing some fun runs working with you so that you are catching waves as effectively as possible.
Safety is emphasized and a full assessment of paddling ability will be done to ensure each paddler is accommodated accordingly. The clinic is 4 days and we will paddle at various locations around the island based on the conditions. The first day will be in a protected area where we can assess your ability and you can get accounted with the equipment. You should be very comfortable paddling in the open ocean and a strong swimmer.
The canoes will likely be, but not limited to Ares, Pueo, and doubles such as Gemini. The canoes are checked and are in top quality condition. Visit Kai Wa’a and Kamanu Composites for more details on some of the outrigger canoes we use.
Ask about a group rate if you have 6 or more paddlers!
*NOTE: We reserve the right to modify clinics into private or semi-private lessons at lesson rates if we don’t have a minimum of 6 paddlers attending a clinic. In the very unlikely event we have to cancel, we will refund your full cost of the clinic. If you need to cancel up to 2 months prior to the scheduled start date of a clinic, we will refund the full amount minus any admin fees charged to us, unless it affects the minimum participation requirement in which case the refund will be 50% minus admin fees. If you cancel within two months of a clinic start date then the refund will be 50% minus admin fee since most of the fixed costs for the clinic will have been paid for and cannot be reimbursed. During the clinic, paddlers are responsible for any damages to the boats they are using. If there are damages, then the instructor or management will determine if the boat needs to be completely replaced or can be repaired.
**Please also note that even for our novice clinics, paddlers must still have adequate experience on an outrigger and must pass the instructors assessment including demonstrating a remount to be permitted to paddle in the open ocean. If you fail the assessment then we won’t be able to refund, but we will try to accommodate a paddling experience in safe protected waters which may have additional costs if a private instructor is required.
We have limited 2022 clinics currently available. They are posted on our website, along with accommodation tips. Look under our clinics menu.
I’m interested in the march 2022 OC1 Clinic. Looking for information on registration, nearby accommodation etc.
Checking in to see if there is space for two at the spring break clinic? We paddle with Outrigger Santa Cruz.
Myself age 51, 1 year experience OC1 and OC6 (3 -OC6 novice races in 2021)
My son: age 25, new to OC1 and OC6. Several years Standup paddling experience and a surfer.
What is the address for the location of the clinic?
Unfortunately we currently don’t have any scheduled clinics for 2021 at this time. We are offering occasional lessons and rentals.
Same question, is March clinic still happening? Would like to do it but want to get vaccine before traveling.
I am interested in the spring break clinic on March 16th – March 19th. Not certain if any spots available, yet I will just make payment and see if any spots can be confirmed. I would need a canoe for sure. Please confirm per email if spot is confirmed. Carolina Dohmen (email@example.com) THANKS IN ADVANCE!
Aloha Heidi, Yes you can register by yourself or with a friend.
